Noktor m4/3 f0.95 lens introduced with sample GH1 videos

From DPReview's story about Noktor's announcement:

"The company, that appears to be registered to a residential property in Canton, Georgia will start shipping the lens from April 15, 2010 at a retail price of $750.

Well, I'm certainly not enthused about giving $750 to some guy working out of his garage.

Since they're reselling , I guess that explains why other focal lengths are TBD.

Are the Senko's well received? Anyone use that? Never heard of it

Well any business has to start somewhere, right? What's to lose. They have a big fan group and have a decent return policy. These people have seemed to put alot of effort into what they are doing. Give them the benefit of the doubt and if you're interested you should get one, test it out, and return it if you're not happy. Easy enough.

I think they shoot 720/60p not to minimize banding but to show how good the lens is, after all to shoot 60p is necessary a faster shutter speed. Do I make sense?

Lots of businesses operate out of residences. When we started Westwood Studios, there were three of us crammed into Louis Castle's converted-garage bedroom. We did a lot of good work there, and it grew into a business that sold for $122 million to Electronic Arts.

Besides, who says Solomon is working out of his garage? He may have made arrangements for a lens manufacturer in China to ship the lens to a mount modifier in Korea and drop-ship the finished product to a retailer in New York. He may never even actually touch the finished product, and he may hang his business license on the wall of his bedroom, but it could still be a $10 million operation.

The Internet has changed everything. I sincerely doubt Solomon is blowing glass and grinding lenses and manufacturing housings in his garage. I pretty much doubt he's doing any of the physical construction at all. That residence address is probably a place where he makes phone calls and writes checks from; the actual work might be being done in huge factories.

I work out of my residence as well. Nothing wrong with that.

But I just expect a more professional environment from a lens manufacturer. Although, if they're simply having them made in China and then selling them upon import, then I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm sure solomon can step in and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Nightlight and my short film Trapped both contained shots with the same set of optics.

Like I stated in my previous post, every business starts out somewhere. No one who just starts a new business is gonna rent out a factory, hire a staff and start mass producing a product. And I agree with Barry. Just cause they're registered to a resident doesn't mean they aren't working with manufacturers to get these lens. That's probably exactly what they are doing.
