Nokton Hyper Prime 50mm 0.95 vs Voighlander 50mm 1.1

I think Timur used one of the Voigtlander 50's on "A Verse Before Dying", you could ask him what he thought of it...

Just to make sure there is no confusion.

The 50mm f/.95 is a lens sold under the name "Noktor."
The Voigtlander range of high-speed lenses are badged "Nokton."

The Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1 is a superior lens in every aspect besides speed, and it's not *much* slower but *much* is relative, when you need half a stop, you need half a stop. If you need a f/.95 the Voigtlander Nokton 25mm seems to be a better lens at that speed than the Nokton, I truly haven't heard much about the Noktor Hyper Prime that ever made me want to buy it. It doesn't sound like it's a *bad* lens, but it's not great at f/.95 -- it's soft and doesn't have very good contrast...it's probably something that can be overcome in post to a degree. No doubt a neat lens and good for some particular purposes. The price is reasonable and it's nice that it's in a native m4/3 mount.

By all accounts the Voigtlander is very good at f/1.1 and I'd choose that over the Noktor Hyper Prime.

I believe Philip Bloom has a review of the Noktor Hyper Prime however: http://www.mu-43.com/f38/noktor-review-philip-bloom-1458/
