I edit with FCP on an I5 IMAC.
I have checked it straight out of the cam to a 720 monitor and its still a bit noisy.
Oddly, the blacks look fine. Its the mid tones that are cruddy.
Seeing a huge discrepancy with similar settings from other people. I know Im not using the best glass, but unless everyone is using NEAT and not telling us, I'm just stumped.
Id be happy to send a link to some of the raw and welcome any comments or suggestions.

Let me start by saying bravo, for actually making money on your gear!
Your clips look a little under exposed. The midtones look a bit heavy. Here's my notes on the clips.
- Black woman: She is definitely under exposed.
- bald guy: lighting ratios look good on him, but the gobo on the background is distracting. IMHO I would have softened that.
- 2nd Lady: I would have preferred some more fill light. The background colors and the overhead object is throwing me off. It's left frame heavy.
- last woman: White hair people tough to light! Again a reflector for fill may have helped the top heavy light.

In my opinion, BPress is pretty contrasty to begin with, and then a -2 Ped is crushing your midtones too much. What ISO did you shoot at, and what aperture?

Thanks! The cam is essentially paid off after 3 shoots!
Woohoo!

I do feel my light kit is a bit pedestrian and doesnt have enough wattage.
Anyways, all the interviews were in very small rooms and had maybe 15 mins to light each one.
I had a producer, but it was essentially a "one man band" so to speak.
Given more time I could have tweaked more.
ISO was at 400. Dont remember the exposure (no ND or shutter).
My biggest concern with noise is that it IS a setting issue and not the camera.
I have yet to produce a cracking image under indoor conditions.
Just doesn't seem clean. I have poured over the scene file thread as well.
I tried Barry's "low noise" setting and well, there was infact a bit of noise Lol.
What do you recommend setting wise?

I doubt iMac/FCP cause noise. The discussions have been about what people are monitoring the footage on. It kind of boiled down to players, Quicktime gamma, and graphics cards.

Bgundu.... I seem to remember a thread about Imac/FCP and noise with the AF100?
