Noiseless blacks?

I find the best is at least -5 with Cine-V. I have been shooting mostly on Cine-D and I dont like it anymore cause its just too noisy overall. You get cleaner blacks correcting in camera than in post so just use more light/fill to get detail your dark areas.

Are you using Cine-D? Because I'd be worried about blowing out highlights w/o a knee if overexposing with Cine-D.

It depends. If I know that there is going to be some blow out and it's unavoidible, I go ahead and use Cinelike-V. Most of the time however I go with Cinelike D. It takes a fair amount of caution when shooting in direct sunlight. I've had the camera for almost six months and only recently have I really felt totally comfortible shooting this way. It took a lot of trial and error but I now have a pretty good idea of how much to overexpose to decrease noise and how much I need to bring it back down in post.
