Noise in my speakers. Help

If you have a 50hz hum then it is a ground loop, if you have buzzes and bleeps that change as the computer does things then that is caused by the sound card as Paul says.

I have a mac pro and hook it up to my speakers via the 3.5mm jack output but get all sorts of weird noises as the hard drive and memory does things, he best way is to get a decent audio interface and I personally use a pro tools M-box 2 when I need balanced monitoring for broadcast work.

As a sie note I get all sorts of grounding issues when I have to interface to other equipment whilst doing premier league football coverage for Abu Dhabi media so I always carry a couple of ART Split Com Pro boxes and also have several ART interface boxes to enable me to get clean signals from any balanced or unbalanced source.

Gary it's not a sound card issue. Yes there are other sounds present - it's not just the hum, and it's actually not a low level hum, it's sounds higher in the frequency's. I've said that the noise is not present in the headphones. It's a problem with the grounding, as I am plugging basically 2 amps in a soundcard to which they share the same current. The hum and the noise goes away when I lift the ground on the speaker. I think it's pretty obvious what's wrong.

Anyway I've come to a solution. A 12€ solution!:):) http://www.funtech.si/si/vsi-oddelki/avtoakustika/montazna-oprema/17278/ No more hum and no more interference, no more listening to my mouse and hard drives, etc...! yay!:)

While I can't read the site... much, it appears to be an isolating transformer.

Dealing with 'noise' is a life long process of learning what can cause noise, and what can solve the noise problem.

Indeed. I became an electrician in 2 days in order to get rid of it!:) Anyway yes - it's a ground loop isolator.

One question: do you think that this thing has an impact on the sound?

If "Frekvenčno območje: 20Hz - 30kHz" means 'frequency band 20Hz - 30kHz'... should be the required bandwith for audio. The only other question, which I didn't see a spec to 'guess at', would be how flat the transformer is across the band.

Yes, I didn't get any information about it. It's a really cheap device so... Do you know of a way to test this maybe? And yes frekvencno obmocje means frequency band, you guest it:)
