Noise in low light

I just have my DVX100A for a week. I made some night shots with factory default F1 scene and found much noise in the low light areas. A clip can be seen at http://etilise.com/try.m2v. The iris was fully opened with 1/60 shutter. The noise is no big deal when viewing in computer monitor however it looks really bad on TV.

I would like to know if the noise level is normal or there are some problems with my DVX. I also tried filming low light at home and noticed that there were some vertical noise captured. The noise moved together with the camera around... looked like some vertical noise patterns were generated by the CCD. Normal?? I was told to decrease the Master PED setting. It helps a bit but still get much noise in low light areas. I also found that the noise was there even in low light areas in day shots.

Re: Noise in low light

try shooting in "thick" vertical detail mode..or on the "A" lower the vertical detail setting a little

Re: Noise in low light

The first two clips have no gain. The firework clip has 6db. Really want to know if the noise level is normal in the given scene. If it is my setting, I would like to know how i can do it without the noise in 60i. If it is something wrong with my DVX, I better send it back to pansonic :'(. Thanks!

Re: Noise in low light

I am kinda having the same problem. Well, I just took out my 'A' on a test drive today and I found some noise on the edges of my subjects. Mostly when they were moving around. I have not messed with the camera's settings, just took it out of the box and started shooting. Is this why I'm seeing some noise?

Understood. However, is the noise level shown in the clip normal in night scenes? I am new to DVX and need some guidance from the experienced.
