Noise in Background = poops mcgee

In scenes where there is a solid color in the background behind my talent, I often get really bad noise in the solid color. [The noise is the "mosquito" noise, where little pixels dance around frantically like static on a tv]. I'm shooting in 24pa with my Detail at -5, THICK, and Detail Coring at +5. I was shooting in cinelike_V, so I tried an experiment with plain cinelike, and the noise was actually worse when I looked at the footage on my laptop.

[I haven't been shooting the talent against white walls. I shot a scene with a slightly blurred light-brown wall in the background and it had horrible noise on it].

I usually get this when the lighting is weak, so that may be the problem. However, there is almost never any noise on the talent, just in the area behind him.

I tried "chroma blur" in Vegas to fix in post, but it pretty much ignored the noise.

Is this just what happens when you don't light a scene well enough?
I will readily admit that my lighting is crappy in the scenes where the static is worse.

Thank you very much for any help or advice you can throw at me.

Poor lighting = noisy video, yes. We've got one scene in Siren where there's a singer lit with a spotlight, and the background drops off to solid black, and it looks absolutely noise-free. Give the chips adequate exposure and there should be less noise in your image.

Thank you Barry!!!
This site and your book have really helped me out all through my project.

I'll get some decent light on my talent. (My ND's are gonna be pissed)!

Sorry, I'm a big novice so I'm not sure what you mean. Like the master ped? [If so, my master ped is at the default setting on the scene file 6 dail].
