No timecode on 24p playback!

I recently got my DVX100B on tuesday and have been shooting some test video. Today I decided I would capture some of the footage I had shot. I ejected the tape and put in my playback camera, the pv-gs120. Then when I began playing it back (not even hooked up to my G5) there was NO TIMECODE! It was just 00h00m00f It seemed to be playing ok, but there was no timecode showing up. I have read on this site that many people have used the pv-gs120 as a playback camera, and another post that said this entire line of cameras is incompatible? Only interlaced video has timecode, 24p and 24p advanced (didn't test 30p) do not show any timecode on playback. All the playback works fine on my DVX100B, but I want to save the heads. Any suggetions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Most Panasonic cameras do not provide timecode from DVX100 tapes.
You can use the cameras if you have no need for timecode (i.e. capture now)
Sony and some other brands are much better about outputting the timecode.
Try to capture and see how that works. With FCP you'll probably end up setting it to a non-controlled device since it wants to see timecode.

According to some members on here, they are saying that they use the pv-gs120 as their capture cam. Does that mean you guys don't need timecode?! Batch capture is impossible! I don't think I could live with out that. :(

Crazy, I get timecode with 24pa on my DVX100a. Isn't it the DV spec that timecode is included? I dunno', no timecode just sounds crazy.

Yeah, it works fine on my DVX100B for capturing, it's just my little consumer camera that I would prefer to use for saving the DVX's heads does not timecode for 24p/a
