No sound in XDCAM playback normal?

I'm shooting 1080 HQ at “30 fps” PMC audio.
I can hear sound fine in Vegas Pro 9c 64bit.
When I render out to XDCAM mp4 I cannot hear any sound at all or when I play back the XDCAM mp4 files from my SxS card.
I can see the video fine but no sound.

If I render out to anything else like WMV I can hear sound.

Is this normal or is there a codec I need to install that will allow me me to play XDCAM mp4's with sound?

You have better luck getting an answer to this question the Sony Vegas Forum.

I tried that but no joy.

I don't think the problem is with Vegas because inside of Vegas I can hear sounds and see the waveform fine and if I render out to anything other than XDCAM I can hear the sound.

Keep in mind that if I play the mp4's from my SxS card I get no sound.
I'm new the XDCAM so I don't know if it's normal when you try to play back the mp4 files right off the card.

Can you hear sound if you play an XDCAM mp4 from the SxS card?

Thanks for your reply BTW.

If you are using XDCAM Transfer, you have to select the file, then check the checkbox for monitoring audio. You can check all of them by selecting all the clips, then check-box the audio monitor.
