No Sound for P2

I went ahead and upgraded to Vegas Pro 12. One of the main reason was the P2 not needing Raylight. I am on my laptop computer that doesn't have raylight. I opened up Vegas 12 and was pleased to be able to see my footage from my HVX200 P2 card. But when I played the footage there was no sound? Is there something that may have miss? I did go in and click the audio on the file itself and it played but for some reason it isn't downloading onto the timeline with the footage??? Thanks

Before I forget my time line has both P2 and 5d footage on it. Both visual plays. The sound plays on the 5d footage just not on the P2 footage.

Just a blank white on timeline under the footage from the P2. The footage from the 5d you can see the sound underneath it;

All the folders are there. Here is what it looks like. You can see both the Audio files and the Video files it just not letting the audio files download onto the time line. I noticed that when I right click on the audio for the 5d there is a lot of info vs the audio for the P2;

Is that an old project done using Raylight? I would assume, because I doubt you did all that editing just today, right?

The mechanics of Vegas 12 aren't the same as the mechanics of Raylight, so the pathways are probably off. Try starting a new project and then importing the footage and see if you get sound.

In the meantime, I would finish up that project in the version where you started it.

Okay just tried it. I opened a brand new file. I drag a P2 file but only the visual came. For some reason the sound didn't follow. I tried 5d and both visual and sound followed.

Re downloaded it and still have the same issues. Maybe I'm importing it wrong???? With Raylight I just drag Video onto the time line but maybe I have to do something different???

Yes. I went a head and downloaded my Raylight and it works great with Vegas Pro 11 but still no go for Vegas Pro 12 even with Raylight. I will try and reboot it again. ugggggggggggggggg

I just re download 12 and still the same issue. Even with Raylight attach it doesn't work. I guess what I can do which isn't a big issue is use Vegas 11 for P2 files and use Vegas 12 for 5d files. What I did notice in Vegas 12 is it ask if 'you want to set your project video setting to match this media' which is nice. Not sure if Vegas 11 can do that or not?

Just for clarity's sake, you keep saying "download," but I'm asking you if you re-installed. I'm not entirely sure if you've done that, from what you said.

I mean, go to the Control Panel>Uninstall a Program, then uninstall Vegas 12. For safety, restart your computer. Then, install Vegas 12 again, restart your computer, and then run Vegas 12.

With a clean install of Vegas 12, you should be able to drop P2 video MXFs into the timeline with no problem, and no Raylight. (Vegas 12 and Raylight will not even know each other exist on the same system.)

When I say download I mean re-installed. Did it just like you said and still just visual will drop but the sound won't follow. Vegas Pro 11 works fine and shows the files.

Is there anything missing from any of the P2 folders? Is LastClip.txt present? Raylight doesn't need everything, but V12 might.

When you transfer footage from a P2 card, you should use P2 Viewer, so you'll be sure you get everything.

Good point I will check for the lastclip. What I think I will do is shoot 30 seconds of fresh footage and download it to see if that makes a differences. I have an imac with windows 7. I have Vegas Pro 9 on that machine for a few years now. I just finished installing both Vegas Pro 11 and 12. Did the reboot etc.... Vegas Pro 11 opened up with the P2 files with no problem but Vegas Pro 12 still not reading the files.

Anyway will pull the camera out and shoot footage. Will let you know what happens.

Okay this is where we are at;

If I download fresh footage from the P2 card and slide the 'LastClip.txt' onto my desktop and than download Contents and then put the LastClip.txt into the Contents file it will open up BUT if I slide the 'LastClip.txt' into 'Contents' before downloading onto my desktop then it doesn't work. ALSO after I open and close Vegas file and if I change the file name for example from 'Contents' to 'Video Test' then it doesn't open either - Odd???? This is the best we can do for now. Thanks for your help.
