"No Soliciting" a film by Amy Beth O'Brien

Looks like youve expanded your crew considerably this time round Amy. Look forward to seeing what you came up with.

I showed up to day one of filming and had 12 crew members rarin' to go. Plus three cast members, none of whom was under the age of 30. Definitely a new experience for me!

Looking forward to "Deadline" as well!

Damn... I'm lucky if I can get 12 people to WATCH my films...let alone have a crew that size!

Looking forward to all the films.

Oh, Zaza, I'm sure you can get a few more than that to watch your films! :D
I met a majority of those people for the first time on set. My DP brought most of the crew in, which was quite nice. Great to meet new local filmmakers!

And, with just about half an hour to go, I am UPLOADED - AWAITING APPROVAL!

Also, I changed my poster. The previous on was a filler and made before the script was complete. Some things changed from the original concept.

Thanks!

So Snow Leopard (MacOSX 10.6) decided to change how it calculates file sizes. 1000 bytes = 1 mb. So, a 60mb file in Snow Leopard shows up as about a 56mb file in ANY OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM IN THE WORLD. I had to do some math to figure out how to eek out that last few bits of data, and oops, I did it wrong the first time out. The upload system told me my file was 60.7mb  Tweaked the settings, ran Compressor again, and this time I came in at a slim 59.8mb. w00t!

Can't wait for the Fest to begin!

Hi Amy,

I am surprised - there will be no kids in your film. Lost Chayenne the interest beeing an actress? I am looking with great interest forward to see your one. Much luck!

Susanne

Thanks, Susanne! Cheyenne never really had all that much interest in acting to begin with. The kids just did it because it was a family activity. After Monster Fest, I made a decision that I would not use them in any films that were not just for the family (the older kids are interested in writing and shooting their own films, actually!). It is time for me to move on to more professional productions, which includes hiring actors. That doesn't mean I have left behind children's stories, though. I've still got a few floating around in my head!

They've been talking about making a sequel to my first ever DVXuser fest entry, "Girl vs. Boy." That should be interesting.

11, 10, and 7. My 10 year old took my Digital Moviemaking for Kids summer camp this year, and is quite excited to make a movie.

My son, "Belgarath" is 14 he was in on QuestFest at age 12. This past summer he wrote and directed "Book Drop" for the Twin Cites 7 County Metro Area Libraries (for adults and kids) and also submitted it for a youth library fest. He won the youth competition and was second best picture(out of 72 entries) in the other.

Here's the vid:

It's kinda fun seeing him work, but it was tough keeping my mouth shut.

And if you think it's tough directing your kids. It appeared to be even more difficult directing his younger brother. They got through it.
