No signal recorded on DVX100A when using firewire

I'm trying to send footage from Final Cut Pro 4 to the DVX100A using firewire. I can control the camera with the Mac but do not get picture or sound on the camera. I also tried connecting the Firewire to a JVC SR-VS30U mini-DV deck and get the same result: device control but no picture or sound. In both cases the Mac is recognizing the DV devices. Any idea what the problem is? The Firewire cable I'm using worked fine on my previous DV camera (Sony VX2000). Thanks for any help...

I''m assuming you have the cameras in VCR mode? sounds like it's in camera mode.
Is this using Print to Video or just playback while editing?
If playback while editing make sure to set view -> play all frames and set video/audio to go to firewire.

Thanks, I solved the problem. Was using Print to Video & did have the camera in VCR mode, but settings on Final Cut were flaky. Settings were for DV-NTSC Copy, which gave me device control but not audio or video signals. Wnen I switched over to DV-NTSC that didn't work either, however switching BACK to DV-NTSC Copy then worked!
