no picture on screen or PC???

Having used my DVX100B for about 6 months, I went to review some tapes of recent footage, and found the tape to be blank, then another and another. Then I realise that the tapes aren't blank, but there's no playback on screen! tape info appears, and if I do a capture to Final Cut, it still doesn't show. If I record new footage, the live picture shows, but nothing appears on the tape.

I am no expert, but I am in VTR mode, and the motor seems to run as expected on the tape... what am I doing wrong - or is my camera screwed!!!

unfortunately, in the UK panasonic has not covered themselves in glory to date.

It's hard to find a contact number, the number I eventually found on the website is for consumers - the new number the consumer dept gave me is for a 3rd party which no longer deals with it, they gave me the new new number which is an answerphone. I left a message a week ago, but nobody has called back.

I don't think it's dirty heads as the camera is not that old, but I will give that a shot.

If the camera is older than 5 seconds, it can happen. Not very often, but certainly not unheard of. I'm pretty confident your heads are clogged big time.
 
well - it took 4 cleans, but eventually came through. I can't believe it would go from picture to no picture without degrading at all first... You were right 'Engineer' thank you so much for you help.
