No one else can read my files, please help!

The files may be MPG but the wrapper is Quicktiime. Check the version of Quicktime they are using. While I am a Premiere user on a PC, I have never had a problem delivering raw files or having problems downloading them from Vimeo. Try giving them the raw files right out of the camera and not using XDCAM transfer. That may be your problem..... I never use it since Premiere reads the files directly.

I've had the same problem lately and from my research and deductions the culprit seems to be, all of my clients who cant view the Quicktime wrapped files do not have FCP (6 or newer) installed on their Mac. Quicktime Player Pro does not solve the problem either. I did transcode a few files to ProRes and that did work for one client. As a band aid, I've been giving them the BPAV files also and including a copy of Sony's Clipbrowser.

If a client wants raw footage, I usually give them the BPAV structure instead of quicktimes. And I'll put the XDCAM browser installer on the drive. That said, I'll also tell clients that the raw footage is meant for a video editor, and is not guarunteed to work on a client's non-editing workstation.
