Hi guys,

one thing I noticed that there is no mini jack input, or did I just miss it??
I have bought wireless microphone with receiver from audiotechnica I believe model 88w however I'm not able to plugin into my dvx because it has minijack connector?? any idea what kind of adapter to get or how to solve this issue??

thank you in advance

Michal

Re: no mini jack input??

You are correct, there is no minitele input. The DVX100 is built like any other professional camera with XLR connections for the audio. If your wireless receiver only gives you mini tele you will need a mini tele to XLR (male) adapter.

The good thing with using XLR is that the connectors are way better (doesn't unplug themself) and you are able to use balanced signals which is great against interference (noise) picked up by the cables.

Re: no mini jack input??

that's what I have just found..thanks a lot Johan, I love this wireless it cost me only $105 from buy.com 2 months ago, and it works flawlessly. Just perfect for my commercial shooting. I can only recommend it for low budget in combination with soundforge and noise removal plugin. Great deal for this little instrument.

Thanks again, I'm off to order that adapter. :)

btw would this be it??

also I guess I should look for balanced mini male right??

Re: no mini jack input??

you got the wrong AT , The other model comes with the xlr cable ,the other choice is to go back to the store and replace it with dvx-2100
whats wrong to do a test drive before you actually sighn the check ? ???

Re: no mini jack input??

Yes, using a wireless system that give you true balanced XLR output will of course be a better choice, but if you already have the system, yes that's the adapter you need (if the miniplug will fit your receiver).

Re: no mini jack input??

lol have not ordered it yet..thanks for a warning I like to discuss before I buy, you guys are the pros so I'll better wait for what you suggest me.

Thanks a lot. I love this place.. :)

Re: no mini jack input??

oops now I'm little confused.

I have w88 which has mini out that I have been using with my sony pc115, so I don't really have the budget to buy a new one at this moment. if you guys could find me a model or exact name of the cable I need I would appreciate it, I would then just do price match.

M.

OLEG: btw when you said I got the wrong one did you mean the cable or the receiver?? ???

Re: no mini jack input??

If you are looking for a decent wireless system the good ones start at about $500 (Sennheiser ew112 g2, AT-U100 etc.) They are all UHF systems, some are with diversity receivers, which basically means they have two different receivers listening at the same channel, and then choosing the one with the strongest signal with least interference. If you do a search for wireless here on the forum you will find alot to read.

Good luck on your purchase!

Re: no mini jack input??

Oh, hehe.. I'm getting confused myself here! :)

Yes, if you have a mini tele jack out from your receiver that cable will do the job.

Re: no mini jack input??

i tougth its funny that someone puts 3000+on something that he didnt see before ,and moe funny to look for 3000$ camera that will match 100 $ ( i dont know how to callit)

Re: no mini jack input??

oleg:
dude chill, so nobody sells it localy where I live so what was I supposed to do, drive to next town where they sell it just to check it out, besides I did quite extensive research on sony vs panny and if I left out something I did not catch about this camera I cannot come here and ask without being mocked?? After all, it was not a biggy to fix my issue, just $10 convertor did. It seems like this is not quite welcoming place for a newb in dvx. :( :( :-/

Re: no mini jack input??

6-8hrs driving..lol..besides this forum gave me a pretty good idea what I'm buying, so Ican't complain, and after today's trial shoot it proved me right again. Soooooo big thank you goes to this community. ;)
