No letterbox widescreen!

I was wondering how to export my movies in the 16:9 wide screen format from FCP without the letterbox black bars? I see clips of movies shot with a DVX 100A/B that are extremely wide and clear, yet they have no letterbox black bars.

Is this a setting, or does it have to do with using external equipment on the lens?

People mainly just crop the image in post so there is no bars, you can use compressor on a mac just simply have the video be that size.

I use Vegas and I think that with FCP is the same. You shoul match the Project Setongs with the Output settings by choosing the resolution and ratio you wish. Suggest to play arond it for a while before outputting the final file.

Thanks! I will poke around in FCP and compressor and see if I can get the movie to crop the way I want.

PS. this doesn't have to do with the aspect ration setting in FCP does it? I tried to play with this but was only able to crop the movie further with black bars. Either from the top and bottom and or from the left and right.
