No infinity on Tokina 11-16

Anyone else had problems infinity focussing a Tokina 11-16 Nikon mount on a GH? Thought it was the cheap Rainbow adapter but bought a (super expensive and beautifu) Novoflex and it's not. And ideas?

Tokina 11-16mm actually works very good with GH, so I am 90% sure that it's a Problem of your Adapter. Although I never used Novoflex.

If it won't focus to infinity, the flange focal depth of the adapter is too long, Doesn't have to be off by more than a couple thousandths of an inch on a wide angle lens like the Tokina.

I had bought a Tokina 11-16 for my Canon and it would not focus to infinity either. It was a Canon mount Tokina on a T2i. I sent it back.
I had a Tokina 12-24 for my Nikon but I sold it. It was perfect, I should have kept that.

I have two different adapters, and exactly the same result. My Tokina 16-50 focuses to infinity perfectly on the same adapater, so I don't think it's the adapter. Anyone here managing to focus their 11-16's to infinity?

Very wide angle lenses typically have a very hard time focusing to infinity. Even if they are very good lenses, wide lenses are typically soft in focus and get progressively worse when focused further away. I have a number of Rainbow adapters and while they aren't precision parts, they are pretty well matched to each other and to most of my lenses. My 18mm and 16mm are pretty soft and both have a hard time at infinity unless they are stopped down.

I tried an experiment where I bought an adapter and then machined a tiny amount off the front so that the lens to sensor distance was a little smaller. It helped get infinity a tiny bit sharper but the lens is definitely the problem. Now my focus marks are off. It was a fruitful experiment but it didn't result in a perfect result.

My problem isn't soft at infinity... my problem is that infinity isn't at the end of the focus throw, I have to push to the end of the focus throw, then focus back slightly to be in focus at infinity. That's not right, surely?
