Ok, so I am looking at shooting real anamorphic 2.35:1 on the HPX500 with the Canon Anamorphic adapter, but I need a way to view the image unstreched on set....

What LCD monitors out there can unstrech the squeezed 2.35:1 image from a 16x9 image?

IS there even ANY on camera LCD that can un squeeze 2.35:1 from 16x9 ??

hmm good point, the only way i see it working with a 4x3 that stretches would be having the output signal going to the monitor being a letterboxed 4x3 image of the 16x9 then putting that monitor in stretch mode so it will make the image stretch to 16x9 but really making it un stretch to 2.35:1 in the same step because its squeezed.

That would work, but it would only be an SD signal for viewing, and I wanted something more HD so I could also check focus on it.

You could get an EVF optical un-squeeze module for overall framing, while checking focus in a 1:1 pixel out of aspect 16x9 (with a squeezed image on it.). Century Optics had one, Panavision will too.. just don't know about fitment.

Would you happen to have any links to such devices? That would greatly help me out with this interesting situation im in.

External LCD with scope aspect: http://www.smallhd.com/dp1/functionality.php

Schneider on-camera options (for the DVX but perhaps with a lil' gaff tape or other finagling):

And

I've used all of these on the DVX with a 2x anamorphic lens, so let me know if you have any questions. And shop around, the prices can vary greatly on those last two since they were discontinued.
