No Guardians of the Galaxy thread?

I'm surprised, considering the buzz it's gotten, and deservedly so. For me, this was very much a "feel-like-a-kid-again" movie.

Never read the comic, and it wouldn't have mattered, because it was totally different team in my comics-reading days, so I had no expectations. I didn't actually see it until I got the Blu-ray for Christmas, and I laughed and cheered through the whole thing. Of course, I'm going to have "Hooked on a Feeling" in my head for a while, but at least it's the Blue Suede version and not Hasselhoff's.

Very Avengers-like, and in some ways, superior, because there's something about having too many leading men in the same show. James Gunn took the right approach and made it a sci-fi adventure film rather than a comic book superhero movie, much in the same way Captain America: The Winter Soldier was rightly a '70s-style spy thriller first and a Marvel movie second.

They say it's the first movie of the Marvel cinematic universe "2.0," whatever that means. It was just a fun outing, and I laughed out loud at the surprise in the post-credits sequence. Very well-played.

The only nitpick I really have isn't even with the movie itself, specifically, but with the state of VFX today, and how it all looks flat and inaccessible. Photographic miniatures, man, miniatures. Practical FX. Bring them back. (I know, I know. Dead horse.)

Enjoyable enough that my family and I watched it about 7 to 8 times now @ home as well in theaters. I really like how they worked the 70's music into this. Before it came out I honestly thought it was going to be corny. I remember the comics but I never got into it. I was pleasantly surprised when we first saw it in the theater. As much as I liked "The Avengers" I think this notched right above it.

I know! Right? My son and I saw it just as it was leaving the theaters and loved it. Scanned around the DVX film section and was going to start a thread, but I lost steam.

I think it was my favorite movie of the year. I really thought this could be like the original Star Wars for this generation's kids. Thing is......I'm sure the film had great box office numbers, but very little merchandising. Case & point: I wanted to buy my kid a Guardians LEGO spaceship, but there was really only one expensive playset, versus dozens and dozens of Star Wars options.

Whycome kids aren't wearing Guardian's of the Galaxy t-shirts? I think Star Wars still gets massive fundage from parents my age. Enough nostalgia, let's get on with our lives! (Oh yeah, there's that new movie coming out next year. :Drogar-Dum(DBG):)

I think it's a very funny movie. The first scene with Thanos is my favorite in the movie. I preferred The Winter Soldier to this.

I seen someone else mentioned the VFX looked very flat as well when the movie came ouit.
