My Avid 3.5 does not have DVX 100 as an input device option. Is there a place where I can download that option? Or, is there a way to inter it manualy.

your talking about the tape deck right? just choose generic DV, i think that should do it. then, make sure the firewire is plugged into your computer and restart avid xpress.

Avid Read-me files give specific settings for the DVX-100 in order to capture. In the deck configuration, use generic for deck type. Also, I would consider (if you can) upgrading to a later version of Avid. If you are a registered user, some of the upgrades are free downloads on the Avid site.

Also what can happen is that the particular firewire port on your computer is incompatible with Avid. I've had this happen and bought the suggested SIIG firewire card and it worked perfect. You can find them on newegg or tigerdirect for pretty cheap.

Here's a link the avid.com and it has information on different cards. I'm guessing your using Avid Express Pro, so the link is for that.

Here's a link for the card from newegg ($30 + SH):

Hope this helps.
