No capture screen comes up

FCP7 Quad i7 imac from Canon hv20
No Device Control…
only little box that starts capturing everything immediately
using 800 firewire
(should I be using Sata, by the way?)
 
SATA for what on a iMac?

There is no SATA on a iMac.

what "little box" are you referring to? It should be titled.

Are you using log and capture/capture now.

what firewire cable? 400 or 800.

What dedicated media drive are you using?

Are you using Firewire basic or NTSC firewire

(Yes, there is no sata)
using 800 firewire / g-tech 1T
prores timeline
hdv firewire basic / apple firewire
a tiny box comes up that says "hdv capture" and I can hit capture
but can't monitor anything ~ no full screen
didn't have this problem on an earlier intel

when I hit capture and do capture, i get a screen for the image
but no FCP controls...
 
Yes, we're getting circular here and I hope its not my fault.
"Capture Now" comes up when I hit "Log and Capture"
and I'm trying to figure out why.
(Tho by now i've used the "capture now" to bring in all the media...)
