No audio in headphone jack

Greetings all,

My employer recently received a couple of DVX100s in from some of our affiliates and
one of them I have noticed has a pause in the zoom in and out. I suspect that the dial
was warped slightly somehow and gets to a point where the auto zoom mechanism
takes a second to overpower the warp to get to the full zoom in or out.
Naturally, I am avoiding using this camera for now. I'm not even sure this can be fixed.
And if so, I'm scared to know how much it'll cost. But this isn't why I'm here
(but I'll take any advise or suggestions on that issue, for sure).
The other DVX100A doesn't seem to be passing audio through the headphone jack.
The audio meters on the display screen show signals. And when playing video back
in VCR mode, if audio was captured, it will play through the internal speaker. Even
capturing into FCP isn't an issue. The issue seems to be isolated at the headphone
jack. My hope is that I have a setting that has currently disabled the jack
(although I don't see why one would disable a headphone out jack). The other
answer may be that the jack is shorted out and bad. Again, I'm scared at what
the cost would be to correct this, if this is the issue.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time and info.
