I have my footage in after effects but no audio. I have all the mutes off , I can't figure out what it is?

I hit the period button and I get the hour glass to come up. my timeline moves a forward but then right back. In my project the avi file shows audio underneath the footage Icon so I know there is audio in it some where. I tried the ram preview but nothing happened.

I wasn't able to get audio in after effects , I tried hitting the period button on the number pad and I was able to get the audio in the ram preview.
But now when I render the project I get no audio .... I have no clue why?

how can I get a back to the output module to check if I did or not?

You can't, you just need to re-render it and when you do make sure audio is turned on. By default, it isn't.
You should create presets, which you can do in the Output Module drop down, for all your commonly used formats, etc. Many a time people render something without an alpha, or not audio, or wrong field order, etc. Those mistakes can be easily minimized with the presets.

yeah the audio is off in the render settings , but doesn't after effects render the audio and video seperatley?

Not if you're rendering to QT, only if you're doing an image sequence in which you obviously can't render the audio together. In that case you'd have to create a separate output module just for audio, if needed.

The place where I'm stuck is that I can preview ram with audio and it works but when I render it there is no audio

What codec are you trying to output to? You should be able to just click the box that says audio output and it will be included with the file.

the output module setting is when you first import the footage or can it be changed at any time

The output module is in the render queue where you render out your comp. You might want to read up in the manual about the Render Queue.

ok I got what you were saying... I was trying change the audio on an old render ... my mistake... but I was wondering if you new about importing video to encore and then an audio file cleaned up seprately how do you get them to sinc?
