No 720 24p in Avid Xpress Pro HD?

I recently upgraded to Avid Xpress Pro HD (5.23) but found something odd. As is my understanding, the HVX200 can shoot in pure, native 24 frames a second. However, when I have created a project file, the closest I can find is 720p 23.976. I realize I'm whining about a quarter of 1% of a frame but I'm kind of curious why it's like that. I see the option to both 24 and 23.976 for 1080i but not 720p. Why?

The other day I received a bizzare message while working on a project in Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.2.4
After trying to apply an effect on a multi layer track after entering a step in mode the message was somethin like this:

Runtime Error!

C:\Programs\Avid\Avid Xpress Pro HD\AvidXpressProHD.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way...

This happens ONLY when trying to apply color correction to multi layer track in step in mode...

Any ideas..... ??? Please!!!

I am by no means an expert and more than likely my issue was something different than yours (although I got the same message you described).

I ended up contacting Avid support . . . $50. I suggest that you make absolutely certain you have acquired and installed the latest drivers for your video card BEFORE contacting them. The drivers, in my limited experience, is frequently an issue when you install a "dot" version upgrade to Xpress Pro HD.

I also had a similar result when Avid "tried" to ingest a couple of corrupted MXF files, then puked. Hope this helps.

I found an error log that is located the in the folder Express Pro. There is a folder in their that says error log, and in that are two text files. You might find your problem in there.

Back to the original question, The camera shoots 23.976 not 24, so 720p/23.976 is the correct project type.
