GH2 no 1080p on the GH2??

I was under the impression that the GH2 had multiple movie modes, including 1080p and standard definition resolutions. The only options are 1080i, 720p and motion JPEG (in the Rec Mode menu). Is it true this camera doesn't shoot 1080p...or do I have a defective camera?

GH2 has multiple ways of shooting video.
1- Through the stills program by pressing the red button (don't press the red button! - Men in Black)
2- through the Motion picture mode by pressing the trigger button. In this mode you can select cinema mode (1080p 24)

So YES GH2 has a 1080p mode. Otherwise why do you think all this community would be working on this camera?

Thanks for the clarification. Neither the manual nor the camera menu explain what resolution the mysterious Cinema Mode is (1080? 2K? 4K? who knows). I suppose a simple drop down menu with selections like 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 720i, etc. would take too much common sense for the folks at Panasonic.

So with that out of the way, I assume 1080p resolution is not available in any of the still modes using the motion picture button? Am I also to assume there are no standard def settings?

Thanks.

Standard Def?
Well I suppose you could go crazy and hack the GH2 DOWNWARDS instead of up.... that would be novel at least!

chauncythedog, in my manual the pages you mentioned referred to the Face Recognition feature! But thanks for that link...just what I needed. Great info! Appreciate it!
