Nipple piercing, the slippery slope.

Yeah I bet everyone of those guys that hate peircings would say "WOW that looks great" if the girl of his dreams took her shirt off and had them....

Here is a post I can actually contribute to...

In college I worked at a piercing place because they paid me cash under the table and it wouldn't interfere with my baseball scholarship. Great job, interesting learning experience, and I was able to get anything I wanted done for nothing. This has it's good points and bad points. I can honestly say that I have been pierced from head to toe, but at this point in my life I have taken pretty much all of them out.
Why?
First of all, once you can fit a pencil through your earlobe there is a problem. Secondly, with even a retainer in my septum I couldn't get a job. Thirdly, with my tragus, earings are not professional in professional work environments (or so I was told when I took that job). Tongue, well, yeah, that came out because I kept stretching it out until it was just too much. Nipples came out because of a girlfriend who didn't like them...

I can tell you this. Zach, you will want to clean them obsessively for the first two months. I had my right one done three times and lost all three because of infection. My left I had a migration issue but that got fixed the second time. Another great solution is to just get some hospital gauze and tape it over to prevent the painful rubbing.

I can say that I am a recovering piercing junkie. Got rid of almost all of them because things that people can see are just not considered professional. I never got into tatt's though because, well, I don't like that sort of commitment. At least you can get stitches in your ears to get those to heal.

I can't wait 40 years until all those girls with the elaborate swirly black tatoos on their lower backs (et cetera) start getting "Eeeew, Grandma! What were you thinking? You look ridiculous!"

Or when that cute butterfly on the breast becomes a teradactyl.

Well don't come to the Seatle area if you don't like tats and piercings. I'd be real short of creative resources if I was bothered by that.

MattSTL, I'm with you buddy. I am SO not uptight at all. I very much believe in the "each to his/her own" philososhy. However, I just do NOT get piercings at all. Granted, we live in an ever evolving static society and there may come a time when a nose piercing resembling that of Taurus the BULL will look macho. But in 2005-2006, it looks rediculous.

Why pierce the nips? I just dont get it? PLEASE explain the lure to me. I don't even understand tatoos. I couldn't imagine what I could tatoo on me that would have any meaning to me 50 years from now. So why do it? If I was in a really tramatic war maybe, sitting in the trenches with my company men, maybe I would tatoo a memorium of them. But, I've never been in the military and never will be.

I am 34. I am not set in my ways. I just don't get you kids these days. Having said that, my girlfriend has a decorative tat on her lower back. I like it on her a lot. But ask me that again in 40 years.

Rick

Tattoos and piercing are older than the Christian Religion...and will remain longer.

Don’t take anyone’s aptitude towards them.
We see females over a size 6 being chastised now for being over weight but in Roman times it was fashionable to be healthy.
