Ninja/Samurai 25p?

Hi All,

Thinking of adding an external recorder to my AF101 rig because I do notice the limitations of the codec especially for action scenes with camera moves.

Does anyone know if the Ninja/Samurai can record 1080/25p? And is the Samurai shipping yet? That looks like it will be the best product for me, but only if it can record 25 fps.

Cheers, Hywel.

From their website

http://www.atomos.com/samurai/techspecs.xml

Onboard Processing
Auto detect and remove or insert pulldown

25pSF (50i) > 25p
30pSF (60i) > 30p
24p (3:2-60i) > 24p
23.98p (3:2-59.94i) > 23.98p

Which means that it takes in 25 p in a 50i stream - but the recorded result is you have real 25p. Someone kick me if I am wrong.

thanks, tipota, I was slightly confused by their site so that's what I'm trying to figure out... does the recorded signal end up as real 25p? It sounds like it should do, but can anyone who has used a Ninja confirm that it does record it as real 25p from the AF101's signal? If the Ninja does, presumably the Samurai will as well...?

Cheers, Hywel

As far as I can say, it ends up being real 25 p. I understood David Shapton from Atomos that this will be so.I guess it's like with the GH1 - 25p wrapped in 50i. If not I'd throw mine against their heads as I have pre-ordered since I-don't-know-when and sit here, waiting like a hungry cat in front of the mouse hole. Honestly anything other than 25p would make absolutely no sense for us PAListanis.

Good luck.... I will post a test as soon as mine arrives...

Please do..I'm waiting on the first real world review of the unit before i decide to buy either a Ninja or Samurai
