GH4 Ninja Blade, GH4 and Atomos Spyder calibration

My Atomos Spyder calibration unit arrives next week, so I'll be able to calibrate the Blade screen before shooting with my GH4. However, I'm having trouble locating a proper manual. There's a quick start guide, but it doesn't detail setting up prior to calibration - anybody with a Blade point me to a decent manual or guide?

thanks in advance

The Ninga Blade looks interesting. Love the features & the rugged compact form factor would be great for travel.

Some questions...

-Do you know if Atomos is going to add 1:1 focus assist in a firmware update?

-How does footage recorded via HDMI using the GH4's internal 4k>HD downscaling compare to 4k downrezzed in post?

-Is the GH4's record trigger supported on the Ninja Blade?

-Are LUTs supported?

@Bern - I'll do my best!

1:1 focus assist has been asked for on their forum - they have a 'features request' section. I'm using the GH4 to do that, so am not so bothered by the lack of it on the ninja. Whether they will add it is anybody's guess.

I'm just getting round to comparing down scaled 4k on the ninja to NLE down scaled 4k. I think the ninja should be better as it's 422 color space out of the GH4's hdmi port (I have never bought into the theory that downscaling 4k in post magically gives you 422 color space). Other users are saying for best 1080p on the Atomos, it's important to have the GH4 set to shoot 4k - it seems that the 4k downconversion by the GH4 gives you better resolution than being set to shoot HD.

Record trigger is working over hdmi.

External luts are not supported at this time, apart from Canon c-log. The requested feature section on the forum is getting this request a lot - we'll see what happens.

My workflow is going to be 8-bit 420 4k on internal cards, and simultaneous 8-bit 422 1080p on the Ninja Blade. 422 color space is going to be much more important than 10bit pictures for avoiding banding, and I'll have the 4k images for resizing if necessary - plus it's a properly accurate on-camera monitor. I would have thought everyone would want one who doesn't need to deliver in 4k. Of course, if I don't need the 4k internally, then I can have 10bit 422 pictures on the Ninja.

Thanks!

We've lost some irreplaceable clips so duel recording is alluring, especially if it comes in a compact form factor.
