Nin + hmc

Aside from shooting video in and around the house for a couple minutes, the very first thing I shot with my HMC was a Nine Inch Nails show.

I was still getting the hang of it and I was pretty much zoomed in all the way for the most part but it still looks ok. There is an audio glitch somewhere near the beginning of the song. This is where the MTS file hit the 3.99GB mark and separated into another file. I lined them up in Premiere and it still did that little cough.

Is that unavoidable or can I do something to mitigate that hole in the audio?

This show was shot with DVX100Bs. I am shooting in front of the guitar player. This was my very first experience shooting with a DVX100. The ease of use made me instantly fall in love with Panasonic cameras and it subsequently lead me to my HMC.

Wow. They let you bring the hmc into the venue?! Let alone shoot the show with it. Awesome.

It was fantastic! Nine Inch Nails worked it out with venues. It was in the contract that anyone could bring any camera or recording device that you wanted. There were a few restrictions to keep it to consumer/audience level; no tripods, no external power supplies, no support of any kind.

Also of note, the audio has not been corrected in any way. That's the way it came out with the onboard mic. It's a little low end and missing some of the higher end parts like guitar sounds but still, I think it sounds pretty good. I am waiting on some high quality audio recordings that someone uploaded to use instead of my camera audio. I should have most of the show up soon!

Oh wow

Oh wow

That is amazing footy you should be commended I have never been so lucky. I don't know how to fix your problem but I just had to say that was awesome. Good thing is that the answer is on this board I read about it a few moths ago so sombody link it to this guy when you run across it.

Thanks for the comments!

I have a solution for this particular set because I found a guy who took fantastic audio so I'll be scrapping my on board audio in favor of his. I'll have about 10 or more songs up by the end of the week :-)

great, nearly perfect. Could somebody guestimate how a FX1000/CMOS would handle this lighting scenario ?
For me this would be a major differentiator..
