Nikon User Thread

you know i tried the larger dog thing as well, i couldn't get it the way i wanted. good stuff though, i like the idea, i'll play with it some more tomorrow.

@Theodoros you take some awesome shots, the dog on the previous page is beautiful, and the man in the wedding gown are spectacular (albiet a bit creepy).

Every time I check the photo section of the forums and I see that the "last post" was from you, I get overly excited. No, I mean REALLY overly excited. It's kind of sad...

Absolutely LOVE pretty much all of your shots. This one is simply amazing.

Thanks! Any compliment coming from you, regarding photography... is like a compliment on cinematography from Kubrick.

Actually... the first shot is just a 50mm 1.8 (to compensate for failing light)... and the next two are the 18-70mm ED! No actual macro here! I had to get that stuff close enough to the minimum focus distance at maximum zoom of the lens used! The frog and moth were pulled in to the focal point, rather then the lens moving to them... I close focused and then pulled my hand in until the subject was sharp. The little frog kept moving away from me constantly... he didn't want to look me in the eye... so I kept turning my hand as he kept turning away... and I took several shots as we did this little dance. If I let my hand become still then he jumped off again... but so long as I turned my hand he was distracted by making sure he didn't face me directly. :)

I will post another shot of the frog... as he finally gave up turning away from me for a second and crouched down on my knuckle... trying to hide from the giant "eye" of the camera lens... (after snapping a couple shots I put my hand to the ground and let him hop off... as I certainly don't condone any cruelty to animals and considered this encounter to be quite humane...)

I wish I had jumped on a great deal on a macro from a good friend (Sigma 100mm macro is a great lens)... *ahem* the OP of this whole damn thread... but I didn't... still... I've got one in my future... since you can tell I like bugs and stuff that begs for macro.

EDIT: Here it is... but certainly not as good of a shot as the others.

i was house sitting in coronado, and decided to do some long exposure work at the park looking at downtown. this was a 30 second exposure. only a little color/clarity tweaking in lightroom.
