Nikon User Thread

Adam Gonzales, regarding your post with the cat pic: Great steal on the D200 for only $800. I'm jealous. Also great shot, and more than that GREAT job CC'ing it.

The cat picture is very good but jumpin jackfish it takes a long time to load!! Maybe if you slacked the file sizes back a bit, after all we're not printing them and the screen can only do 72ppi so the could easily be 300kb and look identical. other than that, Very nice work :)

Its Gonzalez, lol. Get it Right! So the D200 that I purchased was off of Craig's List and the seller was a student from the school that I graduated from. i drove down looked at it and fell in love. When bought the D200 only had 9,300 acutations on it. I was extatic. He also sold it with a Nikon 24-50 3.3-4.5 (it was in pristine condition, it looked like it was just taken out of the box) which has already been sold on ebay for $115, and battery, charger, and this cool little case thing. Craig's List Dream Story.

Thanks for the praise. Sorry about the photosize, it's 873kb ill try to dumb it down a tad. Im starting to compress my images using .png because .jpeg hurts the colors extremely bad. Is there a way to fix that?

Well I looked at them side by side in PS and I cant see a problem with the jpeg version. I'll post here for you to compare

PS The image I downloaded showed 3 and change MB.

Awesome! Now the image is a 10  it really is a well exposed shot. One sees a lot of cat shots online but very few of this caliber...Well done.

PS...Focus is bang on too!!!

Wow...Thanks. I have seen some of your critiques on photo's on this forum and others and this coming from you has me gasping for air. I appreciate the good response.

You're welcome...I just realized what else works for me in this one, just about every color surrounding this amazing animal is also represented in the subject. It's just one gorgeous blend of color:)

While you're in there with the hammer and saw, The black bit at the very top that you cloned in serves no point other than to distract, IMO it would look better if you replaced it with the Grey wall material...Just a thought:)

Or just desaturate the steps by about half at least.

Ryan, having a very accurate monitor is great, but if you don't have one, you don't have one. You can still get by by using the info pallet and getting your numbers from there.

My monitor's aren't the greatest, so I rely heavily on the info pallet to tell me truly what the pixel value is.

Matt, You sure do a great job of cloning the toothpicks out you use to get his eyes so wide....:)

Ha! No toothpicks involved I'm not that cruel.

A little super glue on the eyelids, and yer done.

Honestly, I never do anything to his eyes apart from lightening them just a tad because he is light sensative somewhat, and the house is usually a little dark, which is one reason so many of my pics are underexposed.. I never make them bigger or anything on that order. When i take him outside, his eyes go from that blue to a light blue that is almost a weird gray, and his pupils constrict to where you almost cant see them. Just damed odd.

I don't know where he gets them, you saw my self portrait, my eyes are usually almost a squint and look perpetually stoned. That sucks at sobriety check points. I always get hassled.

Thanks Mino, I hope you liked it.

Just sharing.
Put an ad up today on craigslist for the headshot and portrait work that I do, and slapped together some of my favorite shots. Some of them have been seen here previously shortly after being taken, but nevertheless here's a very low res compilation intended for the general public to see.
