First Attempt at HDR, let me know what you think!

Hey Giz,

You got me curious. So HDR is like layering different exposures down over each other, right? Can you explain it a little for me? I'd like to play with that too. I like the image. Not sure why you chose this particular shot though. Interesting.

Here's a guy I ran into on a pier...

By the way, I changed my template at my website, if you guys could give me feedback on the design that would be cool, www.ricardezphoto.com

Thanks!

Nice work film gizmo - you're pretty much right alvarez. There are a few good tutorials on it that have helped me alot. I'll try and find them and post em up here. I'll have to post some of the stuff I shot in Colorado a few weeks ago. Fun stuff.

Hey Alv,
Sweet Pic of the dude at the pier

Yeah HDR,
It is absolutely what you said. to take hdr though you need a really sturdy tripod and your subject matter has to be pretty still. I used Adobe CS2 to merge the images together then brought it into this other program called PhotoMatrix which let me toy with the tonal ranges.

It is funny that you said the photo is kinda weird. I didn't intend to use this photo for it but it just worked and I like it lol!

Baldwin Park across the lake!

Thanks for the website also! Check out this program to Photomatrix Pro. It is basically set for HDR!

Alright, Elton. Fess up, what's photoshop and what's not? ;)

Great picture, nice composition, beautiful family. But something's fishy here, I just can't spot it. I thought the shadows would give it away, but they seem to all match. Hmm. Could this possibly be the real deal?

Are you using NX by any chance? I think I spot some U-point technology over the the little one, furthest camera left.

Hmm. Fabulous shot regardless.

Ok, full disclosure: my wife is the photoshop tweaker and did some cloning work to fix the shadows. The sun had nearly gone down over the mountains (frame left) and we thought it had a nicer look with much less cast shadows on the flats. Other than that, it was just made black and white and cropped a little.

Nope, just Camera Raw in CS3.

Thanks for the comments, we were just having some fun.

I think he's just crazy and loaded up the ol couch and went for it.

Guilty as charged!!

Looks good Elton! If its photoshop you got me fooled.

Isn't photoshop pretty much presumed in this day and age? I am a minimalist when it comes to using the app, but I have no bias against using it to whatever extreme is necessary.

Here's an unretouched shot that was merely cropped.

well a little touching here and there in photoshop is probably a given for most pics posted here, but I was thinking more on the lines of greenscreen and compositing two pics together. Nice work though - looks like a fun place to go play.

You are still my favorite photographer on these boards, Theodoros. Again, nice work.

Here's a horn player I shot too...

Agreed. I can see how the family shot might look comp'ed.

Amazing place--very otherworldly. Utah's full of fantastic landscapes.

You can see why so many car commercials are shot out at the flats. :)

For me the hard to believe part was that you actually had the balls to a haul a couch out there. And a nice looking couch too. My wife would've just given me the please tell me you're joking look. Made for an awesome contrast of environments though.
