This angle is not very flattering to your model. I'm not sure why...but try to "paint her in a flattering light" I know that sounds stupid, but that picture makes her waist look like the same width as her shoulders and her butt look huge. And I'm assuming she doesn't look that way in real life.

Naw, she has a pretty big butt. Thats what she wanted accented. It doesnt sound stupid, I understand what you mean. Other pics of her came out alot more flattering, she just doesnt want those with her face posted anywhere.

Bayne... I thought that was a great pic... me and my girlfriend both thought so... I called her over to ask how the hell you got that shot so "real" looking... I got a D70s and maybe I just don't see my own work the way I see others.

I think it's a good shot all the way around. For some reason I didn't even focus on the butt before your comment.

Ming... great as always.

Rusty... you and those eyes... those darn hypnotic eyes! I think that kid's blue eyes are so cool that it takes away from your skills... just kidding of course... great shots there too. I probably should have had kids. Seems like a lot of photo ops.

Thanks Matt, still working (no pun intended) hard on getting the D100 into the thread title.

Thx for the comments Matt. I dont know what you guys mean entirely by "real" looking. I used a single 4800K lamp to light it and shot it at 1/8th of a sec. The butt shot there is shot as a RAW file so that I could change the color temp in post. Warmed it up a little. Im starting to like RAW files. The cheerleader pic was shot as a FINE JPG, honestly i cant notice the difference except that you can alter the photo in post.

I understand what Mattin says because I am wondering the same thing having a D70, " why can't my images look that good".
What lens did you used Bayne?

That shot was with a Nikon 50mm 1:1.8 at F3 and at 1/8th sec ISO 200, Auto WB, RAW format. Hope this helps.

Haha that's very funny. Thanks for being light hearted about criticism, more people need to take on your attitude.

I completely aggree about the criticism. She loves her ass....and so does her boyfriend. I know why her back doesnt look so appealing, she was flexing her back and shoulders, if she had relaxed, her shoulders would have looked more proportionate and would have given that nice "V" down to her hips. Thanks again.

Took this one recently :)

Might be a bit soft... I was being STUPID and shot at F14... LOL. So, the shutter wasn't very fast, and it wasn't nearly as sharp as it could have been. Glad you like the comp though :)

iiIIII' ve got it!! Another happy owner of the 50mm F/1.8.
This lens is crazy! The kit lens on the D70 looks cheap comparing to his images. The sharpness is outstanding.
Nothing special though by here is a pic:

I really love the 50mm 1.8 as well, very sharp and clean.

I agree, the 50mm 1.8 is amazing, especially once you get around to f/2.8-3.5. Wide open it is a little soft for product but very nice for female headshots.

It's funny, I debated for a long time between the 1.4 and 1.8, now having both I end up shooting the 1.4 a little more often because it is sharper wide open to 2.0, but at 2.8 it would be tough to tell the two apart. Ultimately, they are both great investments.

The 50mm 1.8 is my most used lens, and I think it produces the best images of the three lenses I have currently.

Indeed a little soft wide open.
I had an overdose of bokeh for tonight.
