I love these two. Richmond huh? A very dear friend of mine lives there. It's a beautiful area...is that the Hollywood Cemetery (never understood that name)?

Dude, you don't even know how a guy from Florida feels when a little shower made everyone go apeshi* when I first moved.. hehe... but you can't blame anyone, I mean this might aswell be Arizona... what was the last shower before this one?


William, I love your Cathedral... you know what? Have you thought about erasing that wall on the bottom of the frame? It might give it more of a Medieval feel.

Tell me about it. My dog's getting really old, I've had him since I was 16, through terrible times of homelessness, through living in 3 states with zero family, through... a LOT. I honestly don't know if I can handle his death, and it plague's my mind constantly these days.

Although many will say they have short lives in order to teach us about life... and death.
 
I don't know why I get such a kick out of this picture. Maybe it's the look on Tosha's face, or maybe it's because I know these people so well, and this picture pretty much sums up their lives:Drogar-Love(DBG)::thumbup: Either way, I laugh every time I look at it.

IHOP for breakfast after a REALLY late night of drinking. I think Mike and I were probably still drunk, actually...

Just in the right place at the right time. I didn't know they would be shooting off fireworks. I was just doing long exposures with my tripod and heard the booms. Here is one of the captures.

And you just so happened to have some water in between... methinks Divot is cheating... he payed a guy to set those off just so he could get a cool ass picture on the thread... shame on you!

How far were you? It looks long as heck at least 200mm. Am I way off? I'd love to see a 1:1 sample of the fireworks!
 
I was shooting with my 24-70 @ 70mm. They were being fired pretty close to me down the beach, but I'm not entirely sure on the distance.

I always upload web samples to Flickr, but I can get you a full res image posted tonight if you are interested to see it.

Sure, if you feel like it, I am just curious to see how much detail you got out of the fireworks.

No clouds in LA so we freak out when we get them... hehe. Lovely picture man. Have you tried cropping it more wide-screen? I really like all of the detail in the silhouette of the city. Kinda awkward how the red light points directly at the blimp too... it is interesting if you don't tell people about the blimp and let them find it which will happen about 100% of the time since it is centered and the arrow thing draws you in. I think erasing the McD's would change it completely though it looks great and it gives the picture a certain something... but I would like it much more if it were clean of logos.

Divot, I prefer the first one but I see what you mean about the other, I like it too. You got a pile of detail out of those fireworks! Have you tried cropping a bit off the sky above them?

The last shot is awesome! Can't decide how it ends. I mean...He looks like he's in control... But then... So do I :) Nice one!!
