Nikon promises RAW video (to Atomos Ninja V)

Clamping the HDMI is not all great.

Typcially Ill use a DSLR on a car mount, plug in the monitor, agree framing with director, unplug, shoot, plug in recomose, repeat.

In such a situation a clamp does not work.

Being a fan of nikon and atomos Id be looking to get a very short mini to large, female, and make something with a 3d printer to keep them in place.

^ I've been in similar situations, what I did was: clamp in camera, disconnect from other side when needed and roll the cable behind the camera, held with tape or similar

But yeah, I hate external connections. Give me internal RAW recording and wireless video out for framing and such, without any additional gadgets or connectors and with decent lag. 2019 won't do it but 2025 very likely will.

Nikon should make a raw recorder (with XLR in and SDI out) like a nikon MD4.

The MD4 was a 'relaible addition' to the Nikon F3. .. nikon had the concept of 'reliable additions' nailed by 1985 or so.

I have been put my eye on Nikon all the time when I am still using Canon dslr for video, because they had no video line camera to protect.
Unfortunately been on so many years waiting until Sony/Panasonic poping up.
Right now they really need to "get into the game" for RAW mirrorless :D

Do the new Nikons provide a wifi app that offers a video signal and some record start/stop control?

My new X-T3s have that option (like the Panasonics have had for a while), and I can see it being wonderfully usual in that kind of situation. That said, the Fuji app is APPALLING and near impossible to connect to sometimes, so perhaps it’s a crapshoot either way.

With Fuji app you can only shoot 1080p on X-T3
