Nikkor 35/2.8 Ai-s lens, covers full 35mm frame, great on both Nikon or Canon (with adapter) cameras. Front filter 52mm thread.

Details on ebay where it's for sale:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320685526083

EDIT: Relisted today on ebay, last day on ebay now, price dropped, now cheaper @ US$ 179 + 35 shipping by insured EMS Express. Priced to sell!

-----------------------------------------------

Anamorphics SOLD!
I also have a 1.33x anamorphic front attachment that connects directly to the 52mm thread of this lens. This means it will give you approx. 2.37 to 1 aspect ratio if you use it on 16:9 HD cameras / DSLRS.
There is virtually no vignetting with it using on the above Nikkor 35/2.8 lens (even on full 35mm frame), you can focus through so it's really easy to use and good for run and gun shooting.
This anamorphic lens is not part of the ebay auction, I'm selling it separately @ US$ 250 plus US$35 shipped by insured and traceable EMS Express. Any interested parties let me know.
If you buy both the above Nikkor lens from my ebay auction and this anamorphic attachment combined shipping will be US$ 50.

Here a video I shot with exactly the above Nikkor 35/2.8 lens and the 1.33x anamorphic attachment (on Canon 5D Mark II), check out the crazy flaring, beautiful blue streaks around 40 seconds into the video:

Marc,

I am very interested in your anamorphic front attachment. Does it have a way to align it easily? How sharp is the image with this attachment? I have 24mm f2.8, will it vignet with 24mm lens?
Thanks,

Bumki

How is the edge to edge sharpness on the anamorphic adapter? Does it get sharper as you stop down? Could you possible film a patterned surface at different f-stops and show the results?

I'm pretty sure it will vignette on 24mm 2.8 lenses on a full frame camera. Might be still ok on APS-C sensors but I can't test as I only have a 5D at the moment. Alignment is super easy, the front is rotating. You simply align it and use some gaff tape to lock it down.
To make it more clear. You screw it directly to your lens you want to use it with (has 52mm thread) then the front rotates freely. It doesn't have a locking mechanism so you simply use some gaff tape, easy and fast.

It's not the sharpest anamorphic lens I've used, edges get noticeably softer.
Haven't really done extensive testing and I'm only selling it as I switched to faster / bigger lenses where it vignettes on full frame so it doesn't make sense for me anymore.
Will try to do some test shots if I find the time after work tomorrow.

Pending sale for the anamorphic lens.
I do have a second one that I will also give up for sale, it's new and unused in box, however it has a black felt pen mark on the glass.
I never bothered to check if I could clean it as I always only used one of them at a time, will look into this, also post some pictures later.

Anamorphic 1.33x lens pictured above has been sold. Will try to get some photos up of the second one I have later today.

So here some pictures for the second 1.33x anamorphic lens I have for sale.
It is new and unused in box, with soft bag, front / rear caps and there is also a step down ring included. Original rear filter size is 52mm.
As mentioned above, I used this on a Nikkor 35/2.8 lens on a Canon 5D Mark II with virtually no vignetting!
As you can see and mentioned before, there is a felt pen mark on the lens, I got it like that when I bought the two lenses. It is not noticeable when you shoot, won't show up on your videos/photos. For that reason and the fact that I had two of them and only used the other one I never bothered to try and clean it.

To answer one of the questions from before, if you stop down your lens the image will get noticeably sharper.

Price: US$ 250 + 35 shipping by insured EMS Express.

I'm very interested... is there a link (of yours or someone elses) to screengrabs taken with the lens at various F-Stops?

This is a generic lens, made in Japan. Manufacturer unknown. I bought two of them brand new about a year ago. Only used one of them, the second one which is for sale here and now has remained in its box and in my dry cabinet ever since.
There is a video posted above that I shot with this lens.
I don't any screengrabs of tests readily available and I haven't seen this anamorphic lens for sale anywhere else since I bought it. I'd say it is a rare find.
It is generally a bit on the soft side but gets much sharper and good results when stopped down to F4 / F5.6. You won't get good results at faster apertures than F2.8, too soft. What I like about this one is that it streaks very much, more than that, it gives you blue streaks which are very sought after.
A nice look for sure.

Bottom line, for what it is and for the price it's a good deal. You can't expect quality of a 3000$ Lomo or other professional anamorphic lenses at that price.

Pros:
-Super easy to use and align
-Focus through!
-Screws directly on your lens via 52mm thread
-Covers bigger lenses than most anamorphic attachments
-On 35/2.8 lens on full frame virtually no vignetting
-Good value
-Nice blue streaks
Cons:
-Generally a bit soft (but reasonably sharp at F4/F5.6 (also depends on the lens you're using it with)
-Any faster apertures than F2.8 is getting too soft and not usable in my opinion

Some more information on this particular lens (and a bit of history lesson) :) As far as I know this one is a copy of the equivalent Schneider anamorphic lens attachment.
They used to make this to convert 4:3 to 16:9 video. At the same time it will convert 16:9 to 2.37:1, close to cinemascope.
Schneider had two of these lenses, one with a 52mm filter thread on the backside (same like the one I sell here) and a much smaller one with 3xmm on the back. The smaller one can be still found online but it will vignette terribly even on APS-C sensor cameras.
The bigger version of the Schneider lens is next to impossible to get, been discontinued a long time ago, I've contacted all official resellers and none of them had stock... I assume the lens I have is from the same time and a cheaper quality knockoff. It looks exactly the same, just without the Schneider branding.
