FS7: Nikon F/G Mount adapter with Autofocus

I don't care one bit about AF or AE, it is the focus ring direction that kills the Nikons for people who also use PL lenses or broadcast lenses. Build an adapter that fixes that and I will buy the first one.

Doug - thanks for the FS7 videos, they're great! I'm one of the many that has paid for them.
Regarding the Nikon focus direction, you could always do what I do and that is to mount a follow focus on a 15mm rod above the lens, so the FF is upsidedown - therefore the right way round in terms of focus direction.
Also I'm a bit long in the tooth so I used Nikon SLRs before Autofocus so my brain easily adapts to the manual focus direction even without a FF

I'm glad you liked the videos. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I've done exactly what you described with the follow-focus. But I find it too imprecise and cumbersome for my needs when shooting fast moving sports, aircraft, and wildlife, which is a big percentage of my shooting. I also hate that when changing lenses everything has to be moved and reset to fit the gears because every lens is different. Fortunately I don't use any SLR lenses right now so it's not really an issue. But this topic hits home because I'm dropping $13K on a Canon 200-400mm lens and an Optitek adapter this month, and I'd probably go with a Nikon lens (I'm 100% Nikon for stills) if the focus turned the right direction. Thanks for the suggestion of the follow-focus, but it doesn't suit my needs.

Quite inexpensive and very very good follow focus from Shoot 35 has reversible directions . Its just an Allen screw and changes fairly quickly.

My question about the adapter isn't AF , but IS . That's what i find missing.

I was just going to say that I scrolled on an say your reply. I love, love using my Nikon's but as you mention Doug, no matter how hard I try, I always ying when I should yang. Never have understood Nikon's focus ring rotation reasoning but it is what it is. The auto focus/iris option would be nice but I'm old school and like that control anyway.
Funny how the article offers no name, price, place to purchase or time line.

I've found its a lot easier to get used to the ;lens focus direction when using a Follow focus. Maybe in and out is easier to keep in my brain even if I switch to reversed lenses.

Fingers crossed this adapter means we're one step closer to having an Optitron-equivalent mount for Nikon lenses... wireless 300 degree focus for all of my AF Nikon glass would be brilliant.
