Nikon DX lenses on AF100

G lenses are the Nikon lenses that lack iris ring- and the answer is Yes, with an adapter such as the Novoflex which allows you to change aperture on G lenses. DX lenses are lenses that are optimized for APS-C sensors- and yes you can use those, too.

Yes I'm doing that... I tired to buy Novoflex but got bumped to a UK distributor who had no stock

To build on what roro said: Most (maybe all?) DX-optimized/specific Nikon lenses are indeed "G" lenses, with no aperture ring.

Most Nikons lenses WITH an aperture ring are full-frame. Both will work fine with the AF100.

You may or may not be happy with the various adapters for these lenses that have an aperture control - as you will not know exactly which aperture you are at (and often the range is very short).

Personally, I eventually decided that this setup wouldn't work for me and that I needed the full, proper aperture ring on the lens - and also went with full-frame glass to leave all future options open. I see lenses as a long term investment.

Adaptimax manufacture the Nikon Plus to Micro 4/3 adapter and in our opinion its the best on the market. Our adapter is probably the most expensive but you certainly get what you pay for. The iris on a DX lens can be adjusted by the thumbscrw which is built into the Adaptimax Plus. The thumbscrew gives extremely accurate and fine adjustment to exposure.

Demand of our adapters have been through the roof and I must admit we have been struggling to keep up with huge demand. B&H have our adapters on back order and will be out of stock until after the 14th April. I do however have a few Nikon Plus to Micro 4/3 still in stock here to supply customers who come directly to us and require one urgently.

Best regards

Probably not as sturdy as one that's 10x as expensive, but I've been using it for the past 7 weeks without issues. There's a switch on it that either opens or closes the G lens, nothing else, so you can't adjust the iris by stops. I bought it to be able to use the one DX lens I have, just to try how it will look on the AF100.

Yeah, at that price it seems worth it to find out how well my 2 DX lenses work. Thanks for the link.

If you already have a Nikon F to M43 adapter, you can still use your DX lenses, either at f22, or full open (by proping open the iris switch with a wad of paper). I did the latter to see how some wider lenses would look like since my friend has some DX lenses for his D90. Ovbiously not the best option, but for doing some tests with a glidecam and needed in a wider lens, it would pretty good :)
