Nikon DSLR in Avid 5.0

I am editing a project shot mainly on HVX at 720p/24pn. I am editing on Media Composer 5.0 in a 720/23.976 project. There are a couple of shots I need to use from a Nikon D5000 shot at the 720p/24 setting in that cam. I have tried 2 different scenarios and neither of them are working well.

1. If I open a new bin and then import the Nikon .avi files, they show terrible motion stutter - almost like they are playing back at slightly too fast a frame rate.

2. If I link to AMA file and select the Nikon .avi there is a terrible amount of blur to the video.

Anyone have a suggested workflow for using these 2 file types together? Obviously the HVX footage looks great in this avid project.

Thanks in advance,
Craig

Import the files directly into avid. AMA is a bit hit or miss at the moment, especially if you don't have a 6-core avid-qualified workstation

Thanks Mr Bill, but I have done that and the motion is not correct. As you see from my first post, when I do that it appears like things are slightly sped up. Is there a timewarp effect I need to apply or something to get the motion right?
