Nikon D90 vs Canon 550D

The D90's "poor performance of the video" is subjective, I think it has its own awesome charm and aside from the 5D, I think it's the DSLR with the most impressive body of work to date. Time has not proved you wittier or right...

Back to the original poster, here is a pixel peeping demonstration why I think the Canon's grain/colour is not as good:

Despite this, I'm still a happy owner of the 550D so no real biggy. It's cheap and tiny and if I need a D3S/D3X or a Phase One they're easily rentable =]

Sure.

lammy, remember that john is a professional videographer, he doesn't know what charm means. the definition of good video is many clean lines of resolution, period. it's those people who buy cameras and create the prosumer market so we should be grateful, too bad we have to talk to them occasionally and even worse look at their wedding videos and foliage bokeh test.

You mean people learning, and who do not work for a company that rents out equipment? Ya...

yeah i believe that's the common definition of a professional videographer? sorry but your post doesn't make sense, can you elaborate?

btw i was relieved to see a link to your work after that long list of things you supposedly own. ;-)

Well yes I do own all that... Stuff that I, a 15 year old bought myself for working... And I apologize, but the link to my site was taken down because the picture that was the link was too large so I will fix that.

35 years in the image making business baby. Done so much, had a lot of fun doing it. Film, stills, video, you name it dude. From the capital of the world, NYC! In English or Spanish doesn't matter. Oh, and never had to become anything else to be able to pay my bills! Now in the era of digital having a wonderful time!

Hey.

i need to decide between Nikon D90(18-105 VR) and Canon 550D(18-55 IS + 55-250 IS)
most for pictures, but i like to use the video sometimes.

For stills get the D90 unless you have a lot of old manual nikon lenses and want to be able to use stop-down metering...then consider the Canon or, if video doesn't matter to you a D200 or something.
