nikon d90 footage to 35mm

Really I glad I got to see it just in time! whew!

A really great job done, the whole film looks very cinematic to say the least. And a great cast!

I'm going to shoot my short for Questfest on the D90, and had concerns about lighting as well. I hope I can get the shots down to minimal rolling shutter, although I'm planning for some hand held work in low-light situations (which I've done before and came out alright)...

I was going to watch your short again to see how many shots were handheld, but it was offline already. Could you please tell me if you did shoot hand held, and how you were able to control the rolling shutter problem? I only saw one scene (the volley ball) as revealing the D90's weakness...but it didn't interfere with the viewing experience that much in my opinion.

only one scene handheld. the fight scene.

i think the only problem about the d90 is the AUTO TURN-OFF thing. the heat problem. that's creepy.

thanksss

Meu amigo, you are a way more than to be only a 3rd world director from one of the most potential countries of our planet. On your own, these boards will hear a far more on you, count on it.

Do you have a higher (resolution) version available for downloading? Have you already finished your agenda for the 35mm transfer? Maybe it could be possible to take the plane for a co-production if not... Or who knows towards a feature from this 20 min.s short? There are some places allover the world (Europe too where I am based nowadays -- follow the link via my signature if you'll be curious about who I am or what I've done so far) where you can find partners. BTW, if I had a film lab, I'd put my own money on yours. It doesn't seem a deal per se, it is a promising revenue.

Saudações Cinéfilas (pq n em x de apenas outras?),

Emanuel, just saw the link on your bio. and what a bio! very nice of you to make contact with me.
a friend of mine went to VILA DE CONDE last year and said lots of good things about it. I got to make more contact with people from Portugal, all of them ive meet are nice and talent people.

by now im still searching the best place, and cheapest one, to do the transfer. if you have any suggestion on it, please send me an email.

about the feature film ive written, we can talk about it if you have some interest about a co-production. we can talk about it in pvt, i can send you the script...

thanks again.

Vila do Conde is 15 years older in my memories. Yes, I could know there a couple of friends for life. Just remember two of them from 1994: Solveig Dommartin (Wenders actress and screenwriter) and José Álvaro de Morais* -- a promising great filmmaker, same kind as my bet on your talent. Here's Zéfiro, you must know this one from Locarno, 1994:

WTF!

Man, these are like the best reviews I've read about a short on these boards -- AND IT'S FRIGGIN GONE!

D'oh!

A private link would be spot on, man!

It's very good. The black and white really does the D90 justice. So far this is the best piece of D90 filmmaking I've seen. The acting is very natural and the shots well composed. It's 4 and a half stars from me. This is the kind of work that everyone should aspire to. Sure it has some flaws but that's what makes it good. If you can make a feature like this you will do very well.

beckspace, hehe valeu!!!

to direct and do the camera work was a bit of a hell to tell you the truth but i like to do that. it took me 14 days to complete this film, but i did everything, that`s why it takes long.

i did shoot almost a scene per day, sometimes two scenes.

prepared everything, the camera and the framing work. then did all the work with the actors -, the directors instruction thing, and started to film.

we filmed very slow so that i could handle the work without worries.

im actually planing to film my feature in 3 months and do everything as usual. hehe

every film i do the actors help me to carry the tripod! hehe sometimes they complain about it :P

You've done it the right way and it shows. Most films are rushed and too dependent on time schedules and budgets and you can see it in the finished product. The creative process just doesn't work like that. I'm doing my feature the same way, just shooting it slowly over time a scene or 2 a day with just a sound guy and me directing and shooting. I feel a bit more confident seeing you do it with such a minimal setup. Make sure you send it to all the festivals here in Australia, I'm sure it will be well received.
