Nikon D800 Filmmaking Tutorial

Hey everyone,

Where would you go for a good D800 Tutorial for filmmaking? I'm new to the DSLR world and just got a D800. Great camera but compared to filmmaking toys, controlling it is a little backwards. Not bad but all my intuitive tricks don't work so I need to reorient myself. Reading the manual only helps slightly.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What exactly are you looking for? Help / Tips specific to the camera or film making in general (please don't say both ;)).

I'm looking for helps and tips with the camera. Something as simple as controlling the shutter with say an HVX 200 becomes a lot more complicated with the D800 because you have to press a few buttons ( and to be honest, I still haven't gotten it right ). I thought about using a tutorial with the D4 but I haven't found much on it yet either.

The filmmaking part, I got. :)

Put the camera in MANUAL mode. Now EVERYTHING is easy.

The front dial controls the Aperture. Remember, the lens (and aperture) is in front of the camera - so the front dial controls the aperture. Logical really.

The rear dial controls the shutter. Remember, the sensor & shutter are at the rear of the camera, and the rear dial controls them :)

Hold the ISO button and move the rear dial to change ISO.

That wasn't so hard now was it ? :) What more do you need?

I was able to wrap my head around shooting with DSLR's. This was shot with the Nikon D800 and a Zeiss 2/35 zf.2 Prime on a Slider Dolley with Vinten Fluid head.I only had 5 minutes with the subject to shoot it.
