so since my last post, I shot as a 2nd/helper video in 3 weddings and 1 bar mitzvah and learned quite a lot. I learned more on the technical aide and also shooting and moving slower and less shaky.
I am trying to grab all my gear purchases for summer work in addition to my mostly stills work. anyway, I was considering cameras that I may use for hybrid work. the z6ii camera doesnt interest me as its lacking some features there I would like and see with the sony. big one is dual slot video recording.
the 3 sony cameras I listed are the ones im considering. the a7iv spiked in price $200 in my country and thats out of my plan for now. I could deal with a7iii if I was only doing video but I want something with more resolving power for stills. so considering the A7RIII as the first to test the sony waters and even see if I can deal with the sony colors for stills.
something that threw me off. how the hell is the video quality in the d780 better then all of the 3 sony cameras AND the a7siii?
take a look for yourself.https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-a7r-mark-iii-review/9
compare any 2 cameras. in fhd / 4k uhd and see the d780 has noticeably better video quality then the 3. you can see its better then the A7SIII too. how the hell is this possible? it may have beter video quality but it lacks with many features and af is decent but not great.
now, thats not stopping me from getting the sony cause the d780 for gimbal work /af tracking isnt great. had nikon announced a z6iii in production, I may wait. but nikon is asleep
the A7RIII is the worst of all 3 sony I listed with the softest video but not sure what to do. I cant afford an a7iv this moment. im waiting for someone to get me one from abroad where the prices are much better. the a7iv would just about satisfy me for still with 33mp. but I wanted something for weddings (stills) for high resolving power like shooting groom and bride pictures and such.
so considering just getting an a7iii and a7Riii duo, both to work together for hybrid work. and sell all my nikon gear. then get the a7iv added. thats IF I can deal with the sony colors. Ive never tried the a7riii so dont know. never shot with sony for stills at all.
your opinion would help. thank you. enjoy your weekend.
