Nikon D600 affordable full frame DSLR

Very interesting preview. It seems that the video is really good with less moire/aliasing than the D800. I think it must be because of the 24 vs 36 megapixel. So less line/pixel skipping. Apart from the aperture/live view problem, which does not affect me too much (There is also a ton of Nikon prime and zoom like 27-70, 17-35, etc) that have aperture ring.

The more I look at it, the more I think that this d600 could be the best full frame DSLR after what I have seen from Sony and Canon. The Sony until now image quality wise look horrible. The images are so video/contrasty lack of DR it is staggering. The Canon is more difficult because they only released a very small video which looked horrible to my eyes. But the complain is not only about video because it is causing a lot of outrage between Canon photo shooters also because it looks like just rehashed tech from 4 years ago. What I am sorry is that the D600 will go just unnoticed in the video world.

With in-liview aperture changing, 1080p 60fps, and time-code, this very well could have been very popular amongst dslr shooters and multimedia journalists. But as is, is still compelling. It will be interesting to see how well the DX video mode looks.

Both my local Best Buy store and my local family owned camera store have confirmed for me that they will have the D600 in stock at their stores tomorrow, Sept. 19th.

I guess that Nikon learned from the D800 availability disaster. Hopefully I will get a chance tomorrow night to try my new D600 out

Hi LanceOregon, I hope you will be able to give us your opinion and even if you could do some test would be very grateful.

I just download the "chasing the light" video.... Impressive stuff, certainly quite a bit of resolution and the image looks beautiful, lots of DR and the motion just seems smooth and natural.

Nikon are doing something right, for sure. Look forward to seeing more.

Can't do 1080P @ 60FPS, only at 720P.
