Can these cameras record more than 20 min or it depends on the size of the sd cards?

If I buy two 32gb sd cards, can I record 20 min on each?

I believe it is up to 4GB and/or 20 minutes per recording.
All you have to do is press record again.
I do this for an hour or more per session.

Or you can record 2 hours or more continuous with an external recorder.

"you can record 2 hours or more continuous with an external recorder." -- does the D5100 have clean HDMI out, Roger?

Not that I know of, in the manual it looks like the HDMI port is for playback,
and the recorder can cost more than the camera.
Perhaps the D5200 does clean HDMI out?
