Nikon D5100 filmaking for dummies?! ;)

Ok, brand new to film, but am pretty comfortable with a Nikon for still photography.
We just purchased a d5100 for the purpose of small wedding films.

I have barely played around with it, but I find it does not hold focus at all.

Is there some techniques or better lenses (right now I am using 18-200 VR), or settings in the camera that might help with this?

Really any information would be greatly appreciated. I did some googling, but I find all the various information a bit overwhelming, so
if any of you are familiar with the 5100 maybe you can guide me in the right direction!

Thanks!
Julie

You need to manually focus for video. It's the way to go for DSLRs. If you want to use autofocus for video then the D5100 is not going to work well. You should probably purchase a camcorder if you are looking for autofocus capabilities...
