I have the Nikon D3100 with the kit 18-55mm lens. I also have a Tamron AF 70-300 f/4-5.6 (the cheaper one -- around $170). I'd like to video my son during a track meet. I've tried using the Tamron because I'm usually a good distance away but it is constantly re-focusing and it is quite noisy. What settings should I use for Focus Mode, AF Area Mode, F/Stop? Even though I'm at a distance, is the 18-55mm lens better? Should I take it out of Auto Focus (I've heard some say manual and set it to infinity).
