Has anyone tried putting a Nikon lens with a Nikon > EF adapter onto a metabones EF >Sony E/NEX mt adapter.
I know it works fine optically but am noir sure if you run into any problems with the electrical contacts getting shorted.
Metabones says not to use any secondary adapters but it doesn't quite make sense to me. Why would it short out an adapter when you you use them on cameras with the same connections all the time.

I just bought a very inexpensive nikon to e-mount adapter from (drumroll) Metabones. Think it was around $120 USD. Got it around the same time as a Metabones speedbooster version of the same. The Nikon portion of the Metabones adapter is first rate. the tines haven't flattened at all so the lenses are still snug to the adapter. I actually use the non-speedbooster version way more while using APS-C mode.

I am sure you have a reason for doing what your doing but I have opted (at this point in time) for simplicity and like to think in Super 35 terms when doing lens changes and use my lenses that are sized for APS-C cameras.

Yes I like that adapter and may buy it because its cheap and I like the markings for f-stops on the side. I am eager to have speed booster as an option on my lenses also though.
In my case I want to transition to EF lenses for the FS7 so that I can get get IS and so that all my lenses will focus in the same direction. However there seem to be some issues re the EF metabones adapters on the FS7. I'v already bought my EF > E adapters but think I'll stick w Nikon till the issues are ironed out - hence- can I put my Nikons on the EF adapter.

I think I figured it out. Went on the web and googled "Nikon to EF Canon adapter causes short circuit" and found a few posts . Most just said that the adapters with focus confirmation chips could do this & brick a camera. However another recommended putting some paper tape or fingernail polish on the metal part of the adapter that could contact the 3 pins of the Canon electrical contacts that are in danger.
So I went to my adapters and it was easy to see where the metabones adapters pins might come in contact with metal from the Nikon to Canon adapter. Actually I had 2 and one definitely contacted the pins and one was close - might have . My cheapo nonG lens adapter didn't even come close to touching the pins. Anyway i just put a little piece of black paper tape in the adapter over that spot and it seemed like a good safety precaution that didn't affect the fit at all.

My best adapter was a a photodiox Nikon G to EF adapter.
