Nikon 80-200mm ED vs Sigma 70-200mm Suggestions?

Hi, Right now I can't afford a Canon L 70-200mm I manage to find a good price a Nikon 80-200mm in perfect conditions for $700.

Which do you think will give me better results the above or a Sigma 70-200mm non OS canon fit?

will be used only for video Work and I have a Zacuto EVF for focusing.

Thanks

focus is not really usefull anyway with the canon glasses in videomode, aperture can be adjusted in the lens. just wanted to know if someone had used a nikon lens with a canon a can get a nice image from it including infinity focus

That 80-200 is stellar! I owned one and I also owned Nikons latest 70-200VR and Though I love the VR, for VR itself (photos), that 80-200 is just golden! There are several versions though, and the optics are great, but the earliest one has a push/pull Zoom!

I have the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 ED which I use on my 5DII all the time (it's stuck on right now) - I love the image, fast and sharp (and here comes the cliché) 'even wide open', it's a great lens for video on the 5D.

You can focus to infinity (with an adapter on a Canon body the lens will go passed infinity).

Like you say lack of communication with the body is no problem as in video-mode you tend to focus manually - and there is a nice big aperture ring built in.
