Nikon 1 - high speed performance?

I can't find an answer to this (and have looked at the Nikon 1 J1 pdf user manual) so perhaps an owner can answer it for me? There is a strange option for 1072 x 720 x 60p. Is this actually video or low res stills? Since the camera can shoot FHD video anyway, this option (as video) seems a bit redundant unless it actually is high speed stills performance. Nikon 1 (V or J) users please enlighten me!

It might be video (not a sequence of small stills) which is shot in stills camera mode (instead of video mode), hence the strange 3:2 aspect ratio -- if so, it's not as interesting to me as I hoped.
